Lost Accounts

A lost account is simply a super account in respect of which the trustees have lost contact with the member.

This has been a problem ever since superannuation ceased to be occupationally based and has not been solved by a number of previous initiatives.

Unless and until the Government is prepared to allow tax file numbers to be used as the primary identifier for lost super accounts, this will remain a significant problem.
