Age Pension Increases

From 20 September 2026, both the basic rate and the pension supplement has been increased.

For a single person the age pension will be $1,237.70 per fortnightly instalment period.  This constitutes an increase of $36.80 per fortnightly instalment period.  Previously, the age pension rate was $1,200.90 per fortnightly instalment period.

For couples who are each entitled to the age pension, the combined age pension will be $1,866.00 (or $933.00 each) per fortnightly instalment period.  This constitutes an increase of $55.60 (combined) or $27.80 (each) per fortnightly instalment period.  Previously, the age pension rates were $1,810.40 (combined) or $905.20 (each) per fortnightly instalment period.

The age pension rate is increased every 6 months, on 20 March and 20 September of each calendar year.

The actual rate payable to an individual or a member of couple depends on the application of the means tests.
